letterstonowhereI have literally no one to talk to about this i need to scream and shout!!!!! when the trailer dropped yesterday i literally could not compose myself i was smiling and waving my hands and everything it was glorious. i was cautiously optimistic for the longest time mostly because i kept rereading what martha wells had to say about the show, but now im in full Optimistic territory i think this show is gonna be great.
personally i think the mb casting isn't worth getting up in arms about because it is physically impossible to please every single book fan. we are all picturing different appearances in our heads so how on earth would you have expected them to cast someone that pleases everyone?? i think the points that this appearance makes sense for an Evil Company to create its security constructs based on. i do agree that it's an interesting choice considering based on the places we visit in the books, most people aren't white. but idk i also agree with the opinions that its dangerous territory to keep adamantly going "skarsgard doesn't look androgynous/agender". because what exactly do you consider nonbinary people to "look like"?? like not to be a pessimist but i think people would find issue no matter who was cast. like vico ortiz is a popular fancast, but i guarantee if they were mb, then you'd get people complaining that they aren't tall enough. and etc. etc. etc. also since skarsgard is an executive producer i figure it's likely that he's a fan of the series, and that's probably a big reason why this show was greenlit in the first place. he's definitely the biggest name in the cast and that pulls in apple tv viewers (which i'm sure they're desperate for especially now that severance s2 is over lol), and in general means that the show can even Happen. like all the trailer content is really focusing on skarsgard's name so i think he's definitely an influential player here.
ANYWAY. i am very endeared by the Murderbot Voice especially when it says "oughhh eye contact" hehehe. i love this scene so much when it looks at the crew and they're all like :) i hope this is the scene where mensah asks if it wants to stay up front with them. and the way we get to see from mb's POV with all the secsystem things as a hologram! and when it puts down its helmet post-hostile one and like means well but is awkward bc its not used to talking to anyone without its helmet. im obsessed with the preservation aux casting like seriously they Are their characters. it's like they peeled ratthi and mensah out of the pages of the book. also the teaser clip that was posted today of mb being repaired,,,,,, Bro. BRO. i am obsessed with the visuals of that (and martha specifically pointing out that it doesn't have nipples or a belly button LOL) i want to see what its legs/feet look like since the rest of its upper body (other than the GUNS!!!) is skin exterior. like will we get weird murderbot feet. Don't make it weird i dont want to see alexander's skarsgard's feet Like That yk what i mean...
and the face reveal clip with gurathin,, i love his nail polish btw. and mb awkwardly looking around and avoiding eye contact like i rlly think this guy Gets The Character idk!!! the voice reminds me a little of mickey 17 hehe. im also so ready for sanctuary moon i love the little clip and logo we got! and the way mb says the title in this kinda swoony voice hehehe it loves sanctuary moon!!!
i fear there will be no press (though i wonder if there was any big press for s1 of severance or if they just upped alllll the ante pre/during/after s2 once it gained this cult following.), i hope we at least get a cast interview tho!! i love the bts pic that martha shared i can't wait to see more of that type content eek!!
